Astrology has been practised in
different cultures since time in
memorial. It was revered as an
important source of divine knowledge
in the ancient world, but for
various reasons and particularly
with the growth of a scientific
worldview, it lost its official
status in many countries. Today, it
is still practised widely but not in
the respected ways as in the past.
Western Astrology has continued to
witness changes with the growth of
new movements like the Humanistic
Astrology founded by Dane Rudhyar,
upon the discovery of new planets
like Uranus in 1781, Neptune in
1846, Pluto in 1930 and Chiron in
1977. The offshoot of the
Humanistic Astrology movement has
been other modern developments that
are more closely linked with karma,
psychology and spirituality. The
latest pioneering development by
Jeff Wolf Green on Evolutionary
Astrology is most inspiring, and is
the one I follow closely.
Astrology goes beyond the mundane
world of rational thoughts. On the
one hand, its charts are the results
of the physical realisation of the
solar system configuration at
various points in time. On the
other, it operates like a mystical
connection, revealing through its
window of cosmic consciousness,
psychological symbolisms for all
aspects of our soul’s plan.
The natal chart gives us the blue
print of our soul’s journey in this
incarnation. It tells us why we
have chosen to come back to Earth,
the lessons we failed to learn
before, the directions we should
take, given the talents and
strengths we have brought with us,
so that our consciousness can evolve
to fulfill our soul’s desires to
return to the Source.
Along our life journey, the soul
often reminds us the lessons we are
here to learn so that we can
evolve. If we repeatedly fail to
heed the advice, we may be forced to
experience some cataclysmic events,
which can be traumatising to the
core of our being. If handled
carefully, this can lead to a
metamorphosis or transformation of
our being that will enable us to be
back on track of our evolutionary
journey.
Astrology can also offer clear
insights into relationship issues.
For example, it can help you
understand why you keep getting
yourself involved with the wrong
partner. Astrology charts like
Transits and Progressions can also
throw light on the inexplicable
changes that may happen to you when
you have reached a certain age.
As such, they can help to raise your
awareness of the timing of life
events and changes but also the
reasons behind them. You can then be
more prepared to handle the
challenges ahead as you journey
through life.
The underlying issue here is that your life is in your hands, and you
are always the master of your
destiny. Astrology simply shows
you the road map of what your soul
has brought to this lifetime, and
which directions you wish to follow
is entirely yours.
